Advanced Placement Success Tools Website

Scope of Project

  • Content Strategy
  • Web Design
  • Project Management

The Challenge

Educators across Massachusetts needed a better way to understand equity gaps in their Advanced Placement (AP) programs. While schools had access to raw data, they lacked tools that could make that information actionable. The AP Success tools seek to change this, giving school leaders the power to spot inequities and plan smarter, more equitable AP strategies.

The Solution

We designed a clean, intuitive digital platform that helps facilitate meaningful educational outcomes and addresses the needs of historically underserved students. The new website makes complex tools approachable and actionable for school leaders and educators. Our UX strategy focused on simplicity and real-world educator workflows, translating complex data into meaningful, accessible tools that support equity-focused decision-making.

Strategy

We began by understanding the tools that had been developed, how users would access data, what insights matter most, and how decisions are made around AP in schools and districts. Through the UX strategy, we built:

  • Information architecture that supports flexible data exploration
  • Clear user flows tailored to school leaders and educators
  • Prototypes and wireframes that developed the written content site-wide
  • Custom post types to create a flexible yet consistent system of displaying data

Content Strategy

Through wireframing with the client, we helped clearly define their three tools and develop accessible content for the entire site.

1

Clear Purpose-Driven Structure

Each tool—Self-Assessment, On-Track Framework, and Classroom Strategies—is introduced with concise descriptions and simple, accessible design, guiding educators to the resources they need without overwhelming them.

2

Educator-Centric Design

We kept a focus on educators and school leaders throughout the process, providing them with tailored, simple, tools to address AP success. The tools translate complex educational resources into an accessible, educator-friendly interface.

3

Emphasis on Equity and Inclusion

The tools are designed to support historically underserved students and address challenges at every stage of the process. The tools give educators power to create impactful changes in students’ experiences and and address real classroom challenges.

Impact

By surfacing inequities in a clear, actionable format, these tools support meaningful conversations about access and helps school leaders drive toward equity. The tools are already being used by multiple districts to inform AP expansion strategies.
