The Challenge
This Artist in Residence booklet documents Feda Eid’s collaboration with young artists from Eliot School’s Teen Bridge program, and highlights the teen’s self-portraits that were created during the course of the residency, as they explored themes of of home, pride, and borders.
The challenge in designing this booklet was to find a balance between explaining multi-layered project, showcasing Feda’s personal work, while also documenting the young artists’ work and their journey through the Teen Bridge program.Â
The Solution
By meeting with Feda Eid, and studying her work, we found inspiration in establishing a theme throughout the booklet and a color palette that was complimentary of with some of Feda’s most recent work.
We focused on the rich photography but weaved in a “needle and thread” theme that represents a long journey that Feda and her students had to go through—from learning photography to establishing their own style and aesthetic. The final book created a beautiful and unique documentation of this special project.Â
